Yes, it does make sense, until you factor in the added expense.  There
was specific concern about losing membership due to the waivers; what
kind of membership losses will SAC experience if the dues go up a
significant amount?  The increased dues won't give the membership any
added value.  (Unless they gain satisfaction in that the board members are
protected.)

Unfortunately, there is no ironclad solution to the protection question.
(Just staying home notwithstanding.)

It is an interesting thread though.  I'm pleased that so many are 
participating
in this discussion, and I look forward to seeing which course the membership
decides is best.
