The SAC membership is not declining.  I did the club newsletter for most
of the 1990's, I'm pretty sure we're above average right now.  The
comparsion between the membership levels of all of 2002 versus
2003-to-date is not very accurate.  SAC always seems to pick up a number
of new members during the fall months.

The dues were raised to their current level around 1996 because the
membership level was around 85 and we were paying more per newsletter-copy
and sending newsletters to everyone.  At that time time, the newsletter
was more than half the club's budget.


As for further reducing SAC's budget, I'd suggest the Grand Canyon Star
Party Luncheon be reduced to $30 to $40.  This event does not attract new
members and a Potluck would be more suitable.  SAC could supply drinks (I'd
suggest non-caffenated due to the heat and altitude) and plates.
