[sac-board] Re: Saguaro Astro Club

When you state that you would like to visit an observatory, I assume you
are referring to a professional one, like Lowell or Kitt Peak. Is this
true? If not, there are a number of impressive amatuer observatories in
Arizona a short drive from Phoenix you could visit. I have a two story
observatory near Prescott, with dome and all I built. It has a 12.5"
Dall-Kirkham. Gary Frey has an impressive settup (two domed
observatories, each with a 20" telescope) in Mayer. Mayer is about 15
miles south of my place. Then there is Lowell in Flagstaff about another
80 miles north of my place. It seems a quite interesting trip could be
made from Phoenix involving all three places with some observing at one
of the observatories. Is this the sort of thing you are interested in?
