In general, I agree with Rick's assessment in that the front panel of a
tri-fold brochure should just containg something that generates attention. A
lot of text probably doesn't entice someone to open the brochure. That being
said, I do like the colorful map as it shows detail that isn't present on
the other map. Whether that detail is necessary is another matter.
If it's not too much trouble, can you prepare one of each style? I can print
each style in a sufficient quantity and we can decide later which one is
more effective. I think the design phase has gone on long enough.

My stubbornness is just my not wanting to bicker with you. While I thank
you for getting some third-party input, I do believe you're taking your
perceived results far too seriously.
I currently have a problem of not being able to see the finished
product. I don't have the experience to compare what's on the screen to
what's actually printed. At the moment all I have is black & white
(although at 1200 DPI, duplex printed). I can't hold the screen at
different angles and different lighting conditions. Perhaps Peter should
just print 2 to 5 copies and we can wait until next year to distribute a
more finished copy.
I'm going to try SAC-Announce to see if I can get some other images.
When I shrink the map, I'm going to need a lot of filler.
