Sorry I missed the beginning of this thread. Dead POP3 server...

Jack, MIME encoding for sending 8-bit E-mail increases the file size by
4/3. Save the newsletter to a file and report that size. The file I
E-mail was 917896 bytes.

Please send me a copy of EVAC's newsletter (send it directly since it
can't go through the mailing list). I'd like to comment on the
differences.

My initial thoughts are that Word is nearly 15 years old making MS
Publisher pretty much a toy in comparison, especially in back-end stuff
beyond Rick's control.

I agree with Rick, word is pretty confining when it comes to newsletter
publishing. I did the PAS newsletter from Fall 1989 - Spring 1990 is MS
Word. While the contents looked OK, it was a royal pain to change the
layout once you started. This was I used TeX when I started SAC's
newsletter for the January 1990 issue. The first couple of issue were a
bit vague in style (after the second issue, Rick Rotramel pointed out I'd
spelled Astronomy wrong in the newsletters banner on the first page. It
"Saguaro Astonomy Club", or something similar :-), but what can you expect
with getting a newsletter out after seeing the software for only one week.

At JB's last Friday, Gene Lucas was trying to regale me with how great MS
Word is. I wasn't buying it, nor will I buy Word.
