Board and Members at Large,

With the present enhanced astronomy interest, I'm getting calls on the Club,
telescope purchase recommendations and any upcoming star parties quite
regularly now. We have gotten mention in AZ Republic and East Valley Tribune
(today I think). With the publicity astronomy is now getting with the Mars
apparition our Club is going to benefit with new membership.

We need to make sure our info sheets are being kept in stock at astronomy
outlets. There is a good supply at Mr. Telescope at Central and Camelback
(as of a week ago), but I think some need to be placed at the Guild on 7th
Ave and Camelback which is selling telescopes and binocs also and getting
inquiries. Maybe Fry's Electronics could place some in their 'Celestron
aisle'. I need to enlist your help. Keep some brochures handy in your car so
that if you are in the neighborhood you can drop some off if needed.

I'm sending people to our website, recommending Mr Telescope and the Guild,
Orion Telescopes, Astronomy and S&T for Dobs etc, and giving info on the
party on the 23rd as well as goings on at ASC (www.azscience.org). I didn't
see any mention of the Mars party on the ASC site I believe is Wed Aug 27
that Steve D. announced at the last meeting. I also didn't see mention on
our website of the Novice Group meeting on the 23rd at our Cherry site or
the directions to get to it. If you are contacted by email, have the
directions ready to quickly reply mail.

Be ready for an increased number of newbies at the novice star party on the
23rd.
