Richard,
I'm happy to see you suggesting that we get involved with IYA2009.
We should list the SAC website with www.astronomy2009.us under the Find Your
Local IYA Program link.
We should post something on the website to indicate our intent to provide
programs for IYA2009.
The non-profit issue has been brought up before. Sounds like a big process
and time consuming.
I am working on the financial statements and budget. I am getting some
responses. Will need to process them before finalizing the statements. But,
certainly, they will be ready for the board meeting.
My wife and I depart for Florida the next day, January 10. I will return to
AZ on January 22.
Sometime right after the first of the new year, we need to get you signed up
on the bank account. I will try to find out in advance what the bank will
require.
I have revisted the SAC bylaws. Sometime we may need to amend it due to an
ambiguity concerning executing legal documents.
We may need to find ways to raise some money if the things we might do for
IYA2009 would cost some money. Maybe a special "assessment" of all members;
maybe some raffles; maybe find one or more charitable benfactors; maybe sell
t-shirts or baseball caps; maybe a port-a-pottie fund; etc..
Charlie
