[sac-board] Re: Herschel II Award

AJ,
This is a great achievement, and Joe's observing log is a thing of beauty.
Perhaps SAC should start its own award program, the 'SAC Herschel 800'. It
would require doing both lists of 400, which Joe has already done. A nice
plaque would be in order, not just a crummy scrap of paper like the AL gives
out. (Joe should also get a big empty box of invisible objects.)

Also, we could have a very lively discussion about the AL. Seven groups in
Arizona are members, and the list includes familiar names like Dan Heim.
But I don't see the TAAA on their list anymore. Back in Illinois, our club
was a member of the AL, and it seemed like thay provided very good
information for novices. They also held regional conventions at famous
places like Fermilab. They have an annual head-tax, but I'm sure that's not
the only reason why many clubs don't belong. - Paul
