[sac-board] Re: FW: ASC Deep Impact event on July 3rd

Jeff, Public astronomy is NEVER a waste. We are all aware that the =
downtown Phoenix lightdome prevents regular people from even noticing =
the sky and for that matter you will probably not even see that part of =
the sky that Temple 1 is in due to the highrises of our skyline. Of =
course anyplace is better than downtown for astronomy--we all know that. =
Please take a minute to read my initial plea especially the: "If you'll =
be in town..." Please if at all possible try to refrain from =
discouraging participation in this extremely worthwhile endeavor on =
behalf of our Science Center and any other efforts the science and =
amateur astronomer community puts forth to educate the public. It only =
makes you part of the problem.

It is unlikely anyone will find the comet from downtown Phoenix even=20
if it brightens significantly. The best place to view it will be from=20
a dark sky area.

I highly recommend Stan's Deep Impact Star Party. It's an ideal =
location.

I think the Science Center would be a waste.
