Since I won't be at Friday's meeting, allow me to state my position here. As I had said earlier, I really think this should be a non issue, however it seems like it won't go away. Personally My feeling is unless EVAC can lay some legal claim to the "All Arizona" moniker, we really should not accommodate this request. What would be next? "Could you please find a new spot for the renamed Messier Marathon as we would like to have the AZ City Site associated with only the AASP." I see it as a bad precedent. Why should we change? They are the one with the problem about the name, let them come up with something that would identify their event with EVAC. As for previous posts regarding newsletter mentions, Paul had stated "Rick Tejera, the SACnews editor since 2000, mostly did not care what AJ called the marathon and let him do what he liked." This is patently not true. I certainly proofread all material submitted to me for accuracy and possible copyright infringement. I will not publish anything I can't verify nor have not been given permission (Either implicit or implied) to use. I did not "Let" AJ call it what he wanted, I just published what he gave me. As far as I knew, The AAMM was only name by which the event had been known. Any mention of Paul's version predated my tenure in the club and in fact my residency in Arizona. As AJ has pointed out Paul took the liberty to Decide to rename the event without AJ's approval, something I would not do. But that is another thread that's best left to die a quick painless death here. Anyway I've stated my position on the matter and I'll be very curious to see how this play's out when I return from San Diego. You know it's coming.........
