[sac-board] Re: December SACnews Printed Issues

I have been thinking about the newsletters some more. I like to get a
newsletter in the mail because they are post stamped and that sort of
makes it an "official" document as opposed to something someone could
make up themselves. The other reason I like to get the newsletters
from the club rather than downloading them myself is because they are
usually on colored paper and double sided. Also, my download speed is
pretty slow - still dial up with about 19k-24k transmission speed, and I
cannot do duplex on my printer (an HP4m)

Given the good job SAC is doing on notifying members of the agenda for
the next meeting through email, the other reason for getting newsletters
through U.S. mail, i.e., to be informed of the upcoming speaker, is no
longer valid.

Here is what I suggest:
1. For members who elect to pick up the newsletter at the meeting, maybe
SAC could stamp them with a club stamp, e.g., in red ink, that would
serve the purpose of making it an 'official' copy.
2. There could be a better way of ordering the newsletters rather than
being in one big pile. They may start out in alphabetical order, but by
the time one or two members go through them they may become disordered.
Why not buy one of these accordian folders and stamp the slots in
alphabetical order? It would be much easier for a member to quickly find
their newsletter, and it would make it psychologically easier for a
member to forego the option of getting the newsletter in U.S. mail. It
may be 2 or more months before I made it to a meeting to pick up my
newsletters, but as long as they are there and filed so that I can
easily get them instead of finding one, and then searching for the
other, it would make me happier.
