Steven, Howard, Al, SAC, et.al:

So, if the world were perfect, I think this is what we're shooting for?:

May 20th Brent Archinal at EVAC's planetarium joined by SAC.

September 16th Famous Mystery Speaker at SAC's planetarium joined by EVAC.

November 18th Don Machholz at someplace midway between SAC/EVAC with a
larger seating capacity than SAC's regular meeting place.

I'll work in that direction--the rest of this psycho babble is what lead up
to this and why these things may or may not happen.

Howard--you need to firm things up with Christine--then May will be settled.
(Also with regard to expense?  SAC's out of town honorarium is $75., I'd
like to see EVAC pay him an honorarium as well instead of paying l/2 of
SAC's expenses.)

November SAC has Don Machholz.  Our treasurer is exploring a greater
capacity venue at Grand C. U. and we are keeping in mind your Gilbert site
(is that GPL?).  Our plan is to bring it up to our membership at our March
25th meeting when we have all the facts and numbers available.  I'll look
into something here at the bank or public library downtown Phoenix as well.
(My concern is the drive to Gilbert for SAC's West siders). SAC is paying
his flight/honorarium ($360) Would EVAC pay half the total expense if we
also had to pay for a venue?  If we find a free place, would EVAC pay half
of the $360?

So I'll not know anything firm until after March 25th regardless.  Can you
wait until then for an answer?  If that's not possible, go ahead and exclude
Gilbert as an option for Don Machholz on November 18th.  

The Science Center was already booked by a private party for the November
date when I asked over a month ago!

I'll know today, (hopefully) if I'll have the speaker for August or
September.  If he does not have a preference, I'll plead for September. I
need to hear back from my intended speaker and also need to get back with
Christine Shupla to ensure she received approval as well.

I understand Howard was thinking to our May 20th mutual meeting as a mutual
SAC/EVAC on your planetarium date.  We spoke with Christine briefly last
Friday.  I've already booked Brent Archinal for that date, I'm positive he'd
be worth the drive to the planetarium by both clubs.  He works at the USGS
piecing together and interpreting photos from the rovers, Cassini/Huygens,
and has authored the fairly recent Clusters Book--a definitive compilation.
He's a great speaker with enough information to interest everybody.

Let me know if you think May would work for your planetarium date for a
joint meeting with SAC and with Brent Archinal.

I'll work on my Sept. speaker (oh please oh please oh please), and a mutual
mid-way venue for Machholz.

Hi Jennifer, thanks.

You mentioned some time ago that in November you have a speaker that would 
bring a good sized crowd, but you may have already spent the Planetarium 
usage on Aug or Sept.  I would like to extend to you and SAC the combined 
meeting for November using the GPL Assembly Room.  As I still need to 
reserve the room, but can't as of yet, the exact date will not be known for 
2 months, I will try for 11-18-05, 19th if things don't work out.

As for your speaker for Aug or Sept, Sept is better as I have already 
reserved our Assembly room for Aug 20th (not 19th) eliminating a conflict 
date with SAC.  This was done because someone else reserved the room before 
we could, but it worked out well.  I don't want to take EVAC "offsite" from 
the GPL until after August as I have sent a Press Release to most major 
Newspapers regarding our new home and we must be there while the new "local"

residents find us.

Let me know if the November meeting is still something you would like to do,

as well as, the Sept. Planetarium meeting.
