Paul Maxson also has a complete set of the SAC newsletters which I borrowed
and made copies. The SAC library has a set of these copies as well as I.
The reason I didn't use Gene's copies was because he was not at the
meetings that proposition of copying the newsletters took place (actually,
the JB sessions afterwards). I believe I learned of Gene's copies AFTER I
was done. Paul's copies got brand new staples, replacing the old, rusting
ones.
I digitized the first two issues of the club's newsletters (before the club
was known as SAC). Currently they are JPEGs with 1 MB per page. I'm not
entirely happy with the results. The camera flash leaves a hot spot in the
center of each page, so I'm going to try again with a more lit room.
The earliest newsletters were done on in mimeographic or ditto format. As
a consequence, the printing had bled through some pages. This bleeding
took place at the time of printing and is no worse now than it was then (it
was pretty bad then, just not getting any worse).
Attached is a JPEG of the first page of the first newsletter. The second
page contains two maps that are pretty faint in my copy. The first issue
was two pages, single-sided. They don't look too bad for as highly
compressed as they are (33% in each dimension), you just can't zoom in too
much on the bad area on this version.
