[sac-board] Re: Amendment on the constitution....

Coming home from work I find 30 some odd messages about amending our
constitution. After having read them I don't believe I have the foggiest
idea of what has been said today. So, let me try to make some sense of all
this and follow Thad's message suggesting suggesting we stay on topic and
that is the wording of the amendment. So I follow Paul's link at

http://members.cox.net/paul.dickson/sac.constitution.html[1]

and find there are five proposals that are not approved. Let's look at them
in turn.

Article III, 3 - gives the board discretion over waivers and liability
releases. Sounds OK to me.
Article V, 1 - changes wording for the Board of Directors. Sounds OK to me.
Article VI, 1, 5 - has to do with dropping a member if they don't sign a
release. Wow, this one has just come up and is a big surprise. No wonder
there has been such spirited discussion. I'll have to think about this for
awhile; I just don't know.
Article X, 2 - redefining regular meeting. This is the one Paul Dickson
would like to be voted on last.
Article XII - defining club activities. I believe this was recommended by
Kimball.

It turns out, not a big surprise, that Article VI, 1, 5 is the big issue and
I just don't know how I stand on this - even after the 30 messages. It
appears to open a Pandora's Box of problems. How will it be enforced? Who
will do the enforcing? Yet with all this, the legal ramifications of going
through this helps put more weight of the law on our side.

Bottom line, my opinion - we need legal advice here. SAC has gone about as
far as we can go on our own and it is time for outside help and opinion.
This should help solve all the discussion in an unbiased way. Now who has
someone that can be recommended? Not Kimball, the waiver committee has been
expecting an reply for almost a week and haven't heard anything.

I see five amendments, not three. What gives here?

Clear skies,
aj
