[sac-board] Re: A Video Projector

Wow! I didn't realize SAC had too much money.
Although I am not a Board member, I'll offer my insight relative to a
similar discussion at EVAC. We have access to a SVGA projector at SCC.
It would appear that EVAC's access is easier than SAC's, as our
projector is mounted on the ceiling in the room we use for our
meetings. Its use requires no more than the remote control.
We briefly discussed the idea of obtaining our own projector, but the
idea wasn't approved for a combination of three reasons:
   1. The availability of one for our use at SCC
   2. The expense of purchasing one
   3. The logistics of storing and transporting it to each meeting. EVAC
does not have an A/V person. Currently I bring our slide projector
and stand to a meeting only if it is required. The video projector
represents one more item to be accommodated in this regard.

Having said all that, I realize that one can obtain a far superior
projector these days, especially one using DLP technology. And, I dare
say that finding a member to be 'in charge' of a DLP projector would be
quite easy given their home theater application. ;-)

As the technology improves and the price decreases, obtaining one will
probably become an easier decision in the future. Personally, I think it
is a good idea if a club is self-sufficient in terms of the ability to
conduct its business.

That's my 29,880 Turkish Lira...
