[sac-board] Re: 5 Mile Meadow

Given the short notice, CherryRd2 or cancellation are the only real 
possibilities.  It's a bit difficult to make a 2-nighter there without your 
brain frying in your skull though.  My vote is for cancelling completely 
this year.

Well, this certainly falls into the "Sucks being us" category. Given the
posts, in particular, Brian's post regarding exemptions, we have no real
alternative but to cancel 5 Mile Meadow. I've already called Lil' Stinkers
and canceled the porta john. She was actually waiting for my call. No
problem there, no deposit or monies due.

At this juncture, I see two alternatives, both of which have been mentioned
in previous posts:

1) Cherry II:

Pros: Closer in, Higher elevation (read Cooler)
Cons: IN the PNF, as Jeff pointed out may close as well, Not as Dark


2) The Towers (AKA Hovatter Rd):

Pros: Dark Skies close to 5 Mile Meadow
Cons: HOT, Farther Out, HOT

Personally, as much as I'd like to finally get to the towers site, the idea
of roasting in the sun during the day doesn't quite appeal to me so my vote
is for Cherry.

Anyone else have any alternatives?

Let me know soon and we'll make a decision and post it to AZ -observing.
