The Computer Engineering and Networks Laboratory (TIK) at the Swiss
Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) invites applications for a
challenging position as a full-time
PhD Student / Research and Teaching Assistant
in Systems Optimization / Computational Biology within an
interdisciplinary EU project on plant development.
Project description:
The Marie Curie research training network to be established involves
ten laboratories in Belgium, France, Germany, Poland, the UK, and
Switzerland and aims at analyzing, modeling, and predicting cell
behavior on the basis of high-throughput measurements such as mRNA
expression levels and metabolite concentrations. For this purpose, ETH
Zurich offers excellent working conditions: an innovative and
competitive atmosphere, modern equipped working areas, and a unique
research environment, which includes, e.g., the Functional Genomics
Center Zurich (FGCZ). Responsibilities: The PhD position is available
immediatly for a duration of three years and includes research,
teaching, and doctoral coursework. The focus will be on systems
optimization, and in this context the successful applicant will
develop models and algorithms for the analysis of cellular
processes. She/he will be given the opportunity to participate in a
European student exchange program and to present her/his research
results at international conferences.
Qualifications:
The position requires a Master's degree (or equivalent) in Computer
Science, Electrical Engineering, or related areas. Proficiency in
English, strong team spirit, social skills, independence and a high
level of motivation for demanding research work in an
interdisciplinary environment represent further core qualifications.
Applications:
Inquiries and applications including full CV, transcripts, and a copy
of the Master's thesis should be addressed to zitzler@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
or by mail to:
