and bad news on the Copyright front! Good news – the Bill has been tabled in
Parliament this morning and will provide long overdue changes to the Copyright
Act which will benefit libraries and those with a print disability. Bad news –
the proposed, expected and much needed Safe Harbours provisions for libraries,
schools and universities (amongst others) are not included in the Bill, nor is
there any explanation as to why it’s not included. Watch out for further
comment from the Australian Digital Alliance and the Australian Libraries

Subject: [IFLA-CLM] Australian copyright bill introduced - includes Marrakesh
and library amendments Dear all, Some news from Australia where a copyright
amendment bill was introduced into the Parliament today. The bill implements
the Marrakesh Treaty, removed perpetual copyright for unpublished works,
removes format/number restrictions on preservation copying and fixes some
issues with the educational statutory licences. The text is available here

and it is supported by the library associations. With any luck this will sail
