The Manfrotto design is pretty nice. The horizontal capability is one
reason I chose it. The clamping leg locks don't seem to mind dirt, sand, or
salt water and it came with a small tool that attaches to a leg that allows
one to adjust clamp tightness. I do mostly outdoor photography and have
backpacked with the Manfrotto....
