[rollei_list] Re: rollei repairs

Sometimes email ends up in a spam folder. Sometimes the server will strip it out as spam so it will not even get to your spam folder. Sometimes email just gets lost and no one knows why. Harry does, however, have a telephone.

I have been dealing with Harry for many years. Harry's work is exemplary. If you want work done, as good as it can be done, then it is worth the wait for Harry. If your schedule cannot take the wait, then you must seek another venue.

Harry cannot, over the phone or via email or even snail mail, tell what he will have to do to make a repair. Therefore, only after looking at the specimen and physically diagnosing its ills, can he make a valid estimate of the repair time and where it fits into his work load. Giving out a repair date based upon only conversation, simply cannot be valid. The time involved in doing a complete strip- down vs a simple surface layer problem is enormous.

If you need a repair, send Harry your camera. He'll tell you the schedule for fixing it. If it doesn't fit with your needs, he'll send it back. But you know ahead of time that a serious repair is going to be in the neighborhood of three months. So based on that, you know exactly what to do.

I have ALWAYS found Harry to be a perfect gentleman, always responsive to requests, and one of the few remaining true Rollei craftsmen.

IMHO,

Jim

If one has to wait 10 weeks for service that means there are lots of people who also need their cameras toute de suite. Why not buy another rollei? My experience of Mr. Fleenor - wanting to purchase one of his "for sale" products I enquired if he would accept payment by western union, or a wireline transfer - in advance, if you please - and did not merit even an acknowledgement. Subject: [rollei_list] rollei repairs

I need my meter replaced on my 3.5E. I was going to have Harry do it, but I think his policy of not getting on the waiting list until you send in your camera is absolute rubbish. I'm not going to go 10 weeks without my camera. It's not going to work for me, I actually use my camera.

So I have my camera, and I have the new meter, I just need to know who can do the work without making me go 10 weeks without my camera especially if I am going to spend hundreds of dollars on a repair. Any ideas?

This is not an attack on Harry, I just want someone that will tell me to send it in on a certain day(even 10 weeks in the future) so I only have to be without my baby for a few days since I will pay for fedex. I'd also like someone that would give quotes based on my request and not based on whatever he feels like.
