AND IS SOMEONE GOING TO ACTUALLY SHARE INFORMATION ABOUT ROLLEIS ON THE
FREAKING ROLLIE LIST.

Glad to do so, Micha. And, by the way, don't feed the trolls.
It behooves me as a newbie on the list to introduce myself: I'm a 44 year old photographer from Germany working predominantly in black & white. I prefer to use film in 135, 120 and 4x5 sizes to get my pictures: landscapes, nature details, concept, street scenes and environmental portraits. A taste of the results can be had at my photoblog: http://www.cch-photography.com/3.html . Comments in any language but foul are always appreciated. Getting on to the Rollei content: Till now I've been using a Hasselblad for medium format, but the other day I had occasion to try out a Rolleiflex SL66 (first version) and was instantly hooked. The Scheimpflug principle embodied in a camera hand-holdable! That'd be magic for my nature detail scenes wherein I like to use anti- Scheimpflug movements to minimise the depth of field and play with one of the few means of creative expression that are unique to photography and not inherited from painting: sharp-unsharp-transition and "bokeh". Anyway, a week of reading about this camera line followed, combined with obsessive 'baywatching. Was sniped in the last minute for a pristine SL66-SE. In my reading, I chanced upon various comments on the unreliability of the metering models' electronics and the difficulties of getting them repaired. How's that in your experience? Would you prefer an original SL66 or a metering model on the used market? Mind you, I'm not opposed to using my spot meter, but I like to use my medium format camera in a fast, intuitive way, having the spot meter build into the camera would be one gadget less to think about in the situation.

Best regards, Christoph Hammann
