No, there's at least one more difference: the 2.8D has a FIVE-bladed  
diaphragm. This is the only thing I dislike about my 2.8D!

The EVS system is for guys like me, who prefer NOT to use a light  
meter. I guesstimate the light value, convert it into exposure value  
in my head, and then set the EV to that number. This is the easiest  
thing to do when one has an EV system.

BTW: I am almost always spot on.
