I recently bought a rolleifix in haste from e-bay before realising that it
was actually a rolleifix+pistol grip....! Having discarded the pistol bit I now
have a perfectly serviceable cable release too. I use a 2.8fx and will
certainly need a cable release if I'm to justify using a tripod - shutter
release
takes quite a push o n this model. All I'm concerned about is whether one could
damage the internal shutter mechanism through an over zealous 'step' on the
cable release? Presumably the rollei has some kind of blocking mechanism - and
afterall the unit was designed for a rolleiflex - but there can be no harm
asking.

Can't comment on the robustness of the camera's internal shutter cable
release mechanism but I have found it very possible to accidently ruin a frame
of
film with cable release since the regular shutter release lock is ineffectual
with the cable. My experience is with a 2.8F but should be the came on the C
and E3 models. The FX may be an entirely different animal inside.
Hope this makes sense...
