That's the management level, perceiving a business case. Powerpoint
involved, lots of it; no engineering, no manufacturing.

Design of the shell for an existing camera body.
So - where is the entity "Zeiss Ikon"? Where is the engineering, the
manufacturing, the service - and where will it be if the current ZI
rangefinder model is not seen as profitable any more?
Remember - the old Zeiss Ikon was a world leeader in designing (as in
"technical design", not 133t "Porsche" external design) for much of the
fifty years of its existence.
The new ZI is OEM'ing an existing camera.

Zeiss Oberkochen could have happily produced lenses for the Leica M series.
