[rollei_list] Re: my first cord

Well, it's so simple that it's almost not worth going into detail, but
what the heck.

I used a "credit card" Fresnel magnifier (i.e. a magnifier that is the
same size as a credit card), mainly because it was the cheapest one I
could find. Something like this:

I cut it along the short dimension so that it would fit on top of the
finder screen of the Rolleicord. Since this piece was not large enough
to cover the entire ground glass, I cut two pieces from what was left
over after making the first cut. I then attached these two pieces to
the first piece with a high-tech adhesive film from 3M called "Scotch
Tape." Now I had a square that almost perfectly matched the size of the
Rolleicord's ground glass. I just dropped it in place so that I can
remove it whenever desired. Since I don't make too many upside-down
photos it stays put pretty well.

It was quick and cheap but it works surprisingly well. I reckon it
provides one or two more stops of light from the corners. It would have
been better to start with a Fresnel screen large enough to just cut the
square from, as my homemade screen has little blank areas where the
pieces are taped together.

If you want to go totally nuts and spend $5 you could probably make a
nicer one from this:

Hope this helps.
