You are correct in pointing out that I was overly restrictive. I have never seen a Lucas electric fuel pump though I have worked on dozens of British cars and have stacks of repair manuals and have checked today with a number of professional repair dues who also tell me that they have never seen a "Lucas" electric fuel pump. Lucas does seem to have marketed SU fuel pumps to Europe under the Lucas brand but otherwise, I cannot find any reference at any time to an honest Lucas electric fuel pump.

This conversation started out on the overall reliability of Lucas electrics and someone stated that the fuel pump on an MGA fouled up. That would have been an SU fuel pump. Let us stay focused.
