Some of you might remember me.
I run another Rollei list where the focus is on taking pictures. That
is at least what we originally planned. This list favored the
historical developments and technical details. Any division like that
rapidly falls apart, but that was the original idea.
Anyway, we are planning a Blurb (print-on-demand) book on the other
list. In doing so I am shamelessly following the lead of Jim Shulman
on the Leica Users Group who has now published two LUG yearbooks.

There is no need for anyone from this list to join the other one just
to participate in the book. I have had exchanges with Marc and he has
no objections if information about the project is distributed here as
well. All members of both lists are welcome to participate.
I've now re-joined this list, at Marc's suggestion, in order to make
sure the information gets around.
We are aiming at a book that will cost around $30 - $35 US. It will be
a print-on-demand book. That means it gets printed when someone orders
it.
No participant is obligated to order to the book.
At present we are 32 photographers who have expressed an interest to
participate. We will allocate an even number of pages to each
photographer. That will allow each "spread" to be devoted to a
photographer rather than split between two.
Technical details:
- A 7 x 7 inch book (around 120 pages, maybe more, maybe less)
- Scanned images that are saved in 100% quality jpg
- Images will be printed at 300dpi so the longest side in order to fit
the pre-made page templates should be 1550 pixels.
- If you send an image that is longer than 1550 pixels on the longest
side, then the Blurb software will resize it to fit.
- sRGB color space and profile.
- Color or black and white
- Any Rollei, even the 35mm and, if you are really a glutton for
punishment, 110.
- All files should be sent to me before March 1.
Many want to see technical information with each shot or possibly
included in an introductory text dealing with each photographer. The
template allows for a good sized caption to each photograph or the
photographer could decide on one paragraph of text and then an odd
number of images in order to fit eveything into an even number of
pages.
On another note, I have worked on a PAW (picture a week) for a few
years. The last two contributions that were made with a Rollei were
not that long ago:

Blurb does not honor embedded profiles, but their HP printer uses the
sRGB color space. For those really interested, it is possible to find
ICC profiles for the printer on the Blurb site and do "soft proofing".
