You are confusing two different factors. One is inflation, but the more important factor at the time was the perception that TLRs were outmoded technology and basically worthless. The same was true for tube audio equipment at the time. I was given (for free) a Neumann U-47 tube microphone in the 70s because it was junk and not worth anything. Do you have any idea what that microphone is worth now? The escalation is infinitely greater than that of your nice La Jolla house ;-)
