Hi Marc,

Thanks for the little piece of history. I'll let my friend know about
it as well. I took a few rolls this weekend, but haven't had time to
develop them yet.

So far it seems like a really great little camera. The only problems
I've noticed so far is the impossibly dark viewing screen (an easy
upgrade, I imagine)

Check the condition of the mirror by looking at it through the viewing lens and check that the ground glass is not dirty, it shouldn't be _that_ dim. The easyest "upgrade" is to find a Rolleigrid, a fresnel field lens that drops onto the ground glass. This will give uniform brightness to the finder image. It is possible to replace the GG with something like a Maxwell screen, not difficult to do but more expensive than the simple drop on plastic lens.
The focus hood is held on by four small screws and is easily removable. Clean the mirror by blowing it off. They are first surface silvered and are easily scratched. Clean the GG with dishwashing detergent and water. Location of the GG is positive and removing it for cleaning does not require any readjustment.
