Binoculars and cameras have a way of hitting the ground very hard if not
strapped about the neck. It's like trusting my Bassett hound off leash -
sooner or later there is going to be a squirrel and I'm lucky if I ever see
him again.
Get a wide strap as the thin ones will cut into your shoulder and neck.
I've been thinking about procuring some horse reins and getting my favorite
shoe repair guy to make some elegant straps from those. Mercy!

I bought a small camera bag at a local store that is small and fits
one Rollei and some filters and a flash if needed. Made by Western
Pack. Nice and relatively inconspicuous.
