Don, I remember that panorama, it was about your garden and the

taken hand held; however I could notice clearly the way the software
worked creating and projecting shadows to join the frames producing
an unnatural effect; the point is that using a tripod and respecting
the right rotation axis for the camera-lens combo you could obtain
a natural result even without a dedicated software that always tend
to "invent" something, but if you prefer to use the pano software,
the tripod and the right rotation axis help very much for the software task.-
All the best

Well, now for the truth. That was a quickie made with an
auto-exposure $99 digital camera and I neglected to set the exposure
to "fixed" so as I went around the exposures varied depending on how
much sky was showing through the trees in the park. Also, since I
was doing the overlap visually, I actually had to crop the edges of
the various shots so that PhotoShop could match up. If you have too
much overlap it just doesn't know what to do.
As far as doing it with my Rollei, I will of course just set the
exposure at some reasonable average and not change it as I rotate. I
have a very nice, very smooth tripod with a level and azimuth marks
on it so I can do a clean test with the Rollei.
I was just happy to see how well photoshop did. I have some other
software designed just for that purpose, Pixaround I think it's
called, and one version of it lets you put hot-spots in a web photo
so you can generate a virtual tour of a building or whatever.
Thanks for your comments. You remembered the picture very well.
