I use the 'last seconds' approach. If I win, I win; if I loose, I loose.

Either, I am out bid by a number of people, in which case the price will
probably be well over my ceiling. If it is by one person, it may be by
just a 'few pence'. This is because eBay will take the highest bid and
add a fixed scale amount for the subsequent bid. This subsequent bidder
may well have put in a substantially higher maximum bid than mine but
eBay will only bid sufficient for this bidder to outbid me, not his
maximum. I will never know how much the winner is WILLING to pay.

With the boot on the other foot, this has worked in my favour too. I bid
my maximum and usually will only have to pay a 'few pence' more than the
person I have outbid. If there are a number of bidders 'fighting' I
usually leave well alone because they will be adrenalin fueled and
probably will be willing pay an excessive price just to score a victory.
I almost get more enjoyment in watching and waiting than in actually
winning.

Hmm.  Again, I am really not looking for all that=3D20 much any more but
when I do find something on=3D20 eBay which I wish to acquire, I figure

until it is over.  The point is is that this is=3D20 my maximum bid.  By
maximum, I mean maximum.  If=3D20 my maximum is $173.47 and I am outbid =

$176.39,=3D20 so be it:  someone valued it more highly than I=3D20 did.  =

don't do feeding frenzies well and my=3D20 maximum is my maximum, no =
more
and no less, and so be it.
