"Sharpness" as I wrote in my STREET PHOTOG: A SURVIVAL MANUAL, is a value judgement about how the picture looks. There's some science, some zone system, some consideration of flare, of saturation, and some plain old "taste." Its like jazz... don't expect agreement. Some people will prefer a Summicron, some a hassy with a Planar, and some will want what only a Dagor on a 4x5 can give...
