Laurence,
if it does, you have a major problem. Another big "win" til Win....
Replying to a mailing list should reply to *the list*, not to the
individual who posted the message in question. That's the whole point
of having a mailing list :-).
Which leads us back to the original posters original problem, how to
reply directly to an author and not to the list-at-large.
It might very well be easy on Windows as well, but it shouldn't be
working as you state (I lived with that excuse for an OS ripped off
from technologies they got by being inside Apple while developing
"killer" apps for the Mac since the very first runtime library
distributed with Pagemaker betas somewhere around 1986 or so. Yes it's
gotten better. No it's nowhere close to being there yet. No denying
that BG is quite a talent when it comes to marketing, however.)
Sorry about the last bit, this cold I have is killing me (sinuses) and
my patience is short. I've been in IT since at least the early 80's,
done VMS, done VM, done Unix, Dos, Windows, BeOS. In fact Mac OS is the
only OS I didn't have any experience with until quite recently.
NextStep was my OS of choice for many years (the WWW was originally
conceived by Tim Berners-Lee on a NeXT machine at CERN) , and really
incredible in pretty much any way imagineable. It was Steve Job's baby
after he got kicked out of Apple in the mid 80s. Lucky for me that OS X
is actually NextStep, just updated and modernized (and slightly,
irritatingly Mac-ified, but I can live with that :-).
Back to camera talk. Anyone taken any nice shots with a Rolleiflex
lately?
Cheers (and lots of coughing, sneezing and snot),
Thor
(p.s. In the (rare) event that your "PC based solution" is not running
Windows, congratulations to you. However it's still functioning wrong
if it's replying in the way you describe).

Mac heads!
Simpler is to just hit the reply button, no little arrows, no pull-down
menu's to search. Thats how it works on my PC based solution.
All the best
