According to Evan's book, it's an Automat Type 1 UNLESS it has a safety catch (cover over the shutter button) to prevent accidental shutter release. That would make it an Automat Type 2. However, the serial number of your friend's camera places it in the Type 1 block... before serial number 805,000. The upper pins on the plate appear to be connectors for flash sync. The pin(s) on the opposite side are likely to attach some sort of accessory. From what I can see, the camera is in need of a good cleaning but that's a nice find regardless. "Inherited" suggests the loss of a relative which is regrettable but it was nice of them to leave your friend such a nice Rollei.
