Hi Austin:
I rescanned the neg and worked with tonal curves,
I think the image improved for the shadows details, however
as the image titles says, it's a "high contrast" photograph,
the digital image from the scanner can't handle some tones
transitions very well and then they look "steep". I had
uploaded the image as I obtained it from the scanner and it
was an error, it's noticeable the improvement for the
shadows details working with the curves and the tonal curves
"steep" appearance did not disappear but it improved too.
Thank you very much for your opinion Austin, I replaced the
image and this is the rescanned image (better seen at the
largest size):

Carlos
I missed the original version. This looks fine to me,
excellent mid gray rendition and I don't see anything
missing in either highlights or shadows.
