Subject: [rollei_list] Re: Rolleicord 2 Shutter
Undoubtedly I am totally ignorant of how the Compur and
Rapid variant
are mounted in the Rollei.
How is the aperture and shutter information displayed? Is
it marked on
rotating rings which are part of the shutter itself?
What else but the shutter is hidden by the stamped out
cover over the
two lenses?
Ideally I would like the shutter shifted so I can use that
cable release
on the Compur Rapid. I assume that this would mean the
cover could not
be retained.
Gawd, what a mongrel! If Rollei had installed this shutter
they would
have made sure the cable release was usable.
Why on earth if the original shutter was replaced wasn't
it done properly?

The shutter does not have marks. The shutter speed ring
and iris lever have tabs which fit into notches in rings in
the front cover. A standard shutter can not be used. Its
possible the shutter from a later Rollei camera was
substituted for the original shutter. The shutter must be
installed so that the speed and stop controls line up so, if
the cable release socket is in a different place, it won't
line up. The Rolleicord IV has a different system for
connecting the cable release to the shutter internally. I
don't quite remember how this is arranged.
