There's a very low tech and highly effective means of calibrating the two with even the cheapest $5 junk bin aux rangefinder... create a calibrated distance scale for the rangefinder. Doing this, it is trivial to calibrate the distances between 3 and 15 feet (where you need it). I use this aux rangefinder both with the Rollei 35 and with a Stereo Belplasca which also lacks a rangefinder. My favorite weapon of choice is a small black German "Bodar" rangefinder I found in a junk bin for $3... it has a very bright view/patch and a smooth focusing action... a well-made premium product. I removed the round etched metal scale from the focusing dial, had another one of the proper diameter punched ($2), glued it in, and bought a package of Avery self adhesive label dots. Those labels are then used to create the calibrated scale; a task which took me about 10 minutes through the obvious method... This rangefinder is much more accurate than the one built-into the XA...
