[rollei_list] Road trip 4-25-08

boB Adler, Eddie Clark, and I took a one day road trip to Yosemite National Park last Friday. We take road trips every other Friday but usually go way down the CA coast or Salinas valley, or both. We left my house at 6am and were in the park at 9. There are lots of roads closed within the park, some being re-built and some closed due to the snow pack. This is the time of year when the waterfalls are at their peak (spring runoff), so we spent a lot of the day at Yosemite Falls, some at Bridalveil falls, and the evening at the Ansel Adams' Tunnel overlook.

I shot 132 Velvia 50 frames with my Rollei SL66 (5x220, 1x120) and I processed them yesterday. I also carried my Canon 5D to take digi- snaps of what we were doing AND so I don't have to scan my 6x6 transparencies to quickly put up a web page. The content of my SL66 Velvia images is not a lot different than these digi-snaps, other than being square and a whole lot better! But here's a quick digi-view of where we were.

The picture of all of the photographers shows a photo class from a school (CA central valley), Sacramento, Chico, ? up there for the weekend. The guy right in front of me had no clue as to what he was doing. I helped him load film into that MF camera on the tripod (whatever is it?) film insert, and the chick on the right (reddish hair) is one of the instructors.

We left the park at 8pm and were home at 11. Our CA coast/Salinas valley trips typically are 400-425 miles round trip, lots of moseying around for wild flowers, streams, missions, etc. The Yosemite round trip was only 385 miles. What a great day! The weather was in the low 70's (F) and the sky was deep blue.

PS... I didn't care about the broken Kodak link. I don't use 35mm B&W film. I just tested it because I was curious. And got the same response that Marc got.
