[rollei_list] Re: Problem Solving 2.8C

Thank you Carlos and Richard and Mike and Peter.

The camera has recently had a CLA, I don't think it's maintenance.

This happened once on a roll shot within an hour or two. I'm thinking if there were a light leack, it would be everywhere, but if it is a design flaw it would have happened on both frames (as I bracketed the same shot) - the difference is that I bracketed with shutter speed, from 50 to 25, and it's the 25 shot that got it. More time for the light to bounce around in there?

I wonder if foam were to be adhered to the gate, top and bottom, would the problem would be solved?

Subject: [rollei_list] Problem Solving 2.8C

Hello all,

So I ran a roll through my Rollei yesterday, and I got a funny exposure between two frames. I posted on my flickr page, if anyone wants to take a shot at why this happened, and whether or not there's a fix.

I tested the shutter to see whether it opens at all during film advance, but it doesn't.

Thanks,

This may be the roller reflection problem recently discussed ad nauseum on the "other" Rollei list. While there is some controversy my own tests suggest the phenomonon is due to light getting between the film gate mask at top or bottom and being reflected by the chrome roller into the space between frames or even adjacent frames. This is not quite exactly like the other examples but is close. If this is indeed the problem it seems to be a design problem with Rolleiflex and Rolleicord cameras. Rollei currently uses rollers finished in a flat black rather than chrome. Perhaps they discovered the problem after seventy some years.
