Hi Everyone,
I have been offered a Voigtländer Avus large format camera with double
extension, groundglass-hood, 4-5 Voigtländer backs and a 6x9 rollfilm
adapter. Shutter is a Deckel 1/1-1/200sec. The lens is a very clean
13.5 cm Zeiss Tessar. All for $70.
The seller said he tried the rollfim back and it works but that it
woul dbe difficult to find sheet film for it becaus it was a Europen
size (8x12cm or something like that).
Is this a good deal?
Has anyone used this kind of a camera? Is it possible to cut 4x5
sheet film to size for these older formats? How do you process it?
Do I need a whole new set up of tanks or can I process in trays?
Which Darkroom light?
The shutter is not a Deckel but is a Compur. Pray, provide the serial
numbers from this bird for the body, shutter, and lens, all of which
will be forwarded to the appropriate monitors of such things. FW Deckel
made Compur shutters. They were a Zeiss subsidiary, bankrupted by Zeiss
about twenty years ago and their remnants merged with Gauthier, the
abuser of farmboy labor int eh production in the off-season of Prontor
shutters. SEND THOSE NUMBERS: Clive and Charlie are awaiting your
immediate response! <he grins>
A LOT of folks cut down film in the dark to fit such cameras. I have a
Baby Speed Graphic for which I have to do the same. Richard Knoppow can
tell us more.
