I have some experience, but not a lot, with the Tenax line. I have bucketloads of experience with the Contax RF line, however. Almost all Zeiss Ikon miniature-format cameras allowed the use of a proprietary cassette, a design vastly superior to that used by Leitz. You can use these cassettes on both sides, both to supply and to take up film. There are several designs between 1933 and 1971, but these are all interchangeable (not the case, mind you, for the Leitz cassettes!). The Arsenal Works in Kiev produced a copy of the Prewar cassette which was available new, at least, until 1990, though the ones I own are certainly earlier than this. And Nikon stole the design and supplied new Nikon cassettes into the 1980's. Of these, the Zeiss Ikon cassettes are the most available, the Nikon cassettes being a bit harder to find, and the Kiev cassettes impossible to locate though Yuri Boguslavsky (Fedka) can probably find you a few, or Mark Chaney. Bob Pins -- a noted Rolleiflex authority -- generally has some of the Prewar Zeiss Ikon cassettes for sale.

Oddly, I do have a late version of the Zeiss Ikon spool sitting on my desk in front of me as I write these words, and I might be convinced to part with a couple of Zeiss Ikon cassettes. The cassettes are MUCH easier to locate than are the individual spools.

There is a Zeiss Ikon Collectors' Group over on Yahoo Groups which you might consider joining. Many of us are members there -- Austin is a frequent and valued contributor on the Super Ikonta line, for instance -- and, if you decide to join, your request will be forwarded to me, as I am the co-moderator ....

So, what you really need are two Zeiss Ikon cassettes, or two Nikon cassettes, or two Kiev cassettes, or some mixture of these. Then you just load a cassette (IN THE DARK, mind you!) and use that on the supply side with the other on the take-up side. When finished with the roll, you do not need to re-roll: just open the camera and remove the two cassettes. Mighty nifty!

And, now, what about those serial numbers? Body and lens, and thank you! Lt-Col Simon Worsely will want the body number and Charlie Barringer will want the lens number.
