[rollei_list] Re: OT Re: Scanning 120 film

Hi Neal,

Thanks for the compliment. My father's negatives are yielding some very good shots and many were taken with Rolleis. The one of my grandfather was likely taken with a Model II, Type 3 from 1938/39 as illustrated in Evan's book "Collector's Guide to Rolleis". He also used newer 'Cords and 'Flexs in later years. I own a few of his Rolleis although they are well worn as he did a lot of weddings with them. My Rolleis, purchased by myself, include three 'Cords; Model II, Type3; a V and a Va.. Other 6x6 cameras I own are off-brands. :)

Yes, I like the square format and 8x8 or 11x11 would be fine.

The scanners being discussed are largely beyond my budget and I use a
lowly Epson 4180 for my 6x6 negatives. I use Vuescan and like it when
compared to the maker's software. I'm in the process of scanning tens
of thousands of my late father's negatives. At the moment I'm doing
Rolleicord and Rolleiflex negatives that were taken in the 1940's and
early 1950's. Here's a link to one taken with the 'Cord in 1950 by
window light as my grandfather worked in his mill. Eventually I'll
have this made into a couple of 8x10 prints for family members.

I like both the composition and exposure of this image! I hope that you
meant making 8"x8" or 11"x11" prints of it!

Regards,

Neil
