Until recently, I had a LeafScan 45 which worked just fine with my PC
workstations. Mine was a SCSI model, though it also shipped with a GPIB
board for non-SCSI PC usage. About a year ago, Silverfast AI was ported to
the LeafScan 45, so either platform is supported for users of this
scanner. However, while it is a very good scanner and still quite
competitive for 35mm, the Microtek outperforms it for 6x6 films, and some
current flatbeds do as well for 4x5 film. It is also very expensive to
maintain, with an expensive light source that has a short life span and
costs over $100 US. The LeafScan also requires a rigorous calibration
practice, as the quality of light changes over its lifetime. It is also
quite heavy and bulky at about 75 lbs and 6 cu. ft., so unless one found a
unit locally, it might not be a practical consideration. For those reasons
and others the 120tf has replaced it.

I humbly disagree with this notion. The Imacon line is of good quality,
but the 343 is not superior to the Nikon or Microtek for 120 film.
