http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technicolor Two-strip Technicolor was available in the silent film era (1922), but in a process where two separate pieces of film were cemented together to make a projection print. The next generation of two-strip Technicolor (1928) eliminated the cementing. The lens image was split into two and exposed onto two separate pieces of black-and-white film through green and red filters. The resulting images were then alternated and printed onto film stock where the color gels were also alternated. Even the earliest of these films used a synchronized soundtrack, for music and sound effects, or for part-talkies where some of the film was color and some black-and-white. According to the Wikipedia article, this process was improved in 1931. --- Rollei List - Post to rollei_list@xxxxxxxxxxxxx - Subscribe at rollei_list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'subscribe' in the subject field OR by logging into www.freelists.org - Unsubscribe at rollei_list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the subject field OR by logging into www.freelists.org - Online, searchable archives are available at //www.freelists.org/archives/rollei_list
