The 3047 is overrated for weight. My SL66 is barely supportable on one.I had a Cambo 5x7 for a while. That led me to the 3297, as I had an Apo-Nikkor 610mm adapted to fit the camera. Sounds nice, but that lens was a very poor performer. The 480mm, I'm told, and what I could see from samples, runes circles around it.

Slobodan & Robert, thanks for the input.Hmmm, I have a Bogen 3047 head which is rated at 16.6 pounds. The 3039 head is rated 25.5 pounds & looks like a 3047 on steroids. I stopped using the 3047 when I got the ball head years ago. Looks like the 3297 plate would work with the 3047 although the regular hexagonal plate is about the size of the Sinar's rail clamp...maybe?I don't have the Bogen stuff here at the moment to check...unfortunately the Sinar and Bogen head are currently 7+ hours drive from each other.JeffOn Thu, Mar 27, 2008 at 12:29 AM, slobodan dimitrov <s.dimitrov@xxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:I use a Bogen 3297 4x4" plate on a 3039 head. The Arca plate is a bit small to accommodate the Sinar's rail clamp. Mine came with an Arca plate mounted on it. I had a good laugh when I saw it, and promptly took it off. When it comes to view cameras, I've never been comfortable with ballheads. On the other hand, I don't mind a ball head with a TLR or a 6000 body.s.d.
