Reading this was like hearing the old "Who's on first?" routine... The
source of confusion in this case does not seem to be Jerry's ignorance
of the Japanese definition of "Bokken", but what appears to be Ardie's
ignorance of the English definition of "singlestick".
Maybe we can get Marc to sponsor a Rollei Singlestick Tournament. The
Planars vs Xenotars? Freelists vs Yahoos?
From the Encyclopaedia Britannica article (part dealing with the sport
rather than the equipment): "Blows on any part of the body above the
waist were allowed, but all except those aimed at the head were employed
only to gain openings, as each bout was decided only by a broken head --
i.e., a cut on the head that drew blood." Sounds like a natural for
some of this crew!
