A user M4 can be had for around $700 or less. A 2.8/35 Jupiter-12 will
cost around $50, as will a 2/85 Jupiter-9. The adapter rings will run
around $50 for a pair.
The M4 is not a terribly wise choice due to its provenance and design --
the M4 was built immediately after the retirement of most of the really
skilled Leitz workforce, wounded combat veterans who left the job in the
mid and later 1960's, and it was built to have absolutely everything
adjustable, meaning that something is always needing tweaked. An M4-2 or
M6 would be a wiser choice.
