It was $35, probably for the case although it was falling apart. The shutter was jammed open and the lens badly etched. Probably a good parts camera for someone. The lens in the one I got is not in very good shape but much better than the other. My working MX has a Xenar in it, a very good lens although I think the one in my Rolleicord IV may be better. It would be interesting some day to be able to measure several Rollei Tessars and Xenars on a proper optical bench, the same with Planar and Xenotar lenses. Its possible to compare computer analysis of the five element Planar and Xenotar lenses because the prescriptions are available, at least as patent data but there is no way of knowing which of many Zeiss and Schneider patents for Tessar type lenses are the ones used in production Rolleis. I will repeat the caviat that the patent prescriptions seldom have complete glass constants listed so the corrections for chromatic abberations can't be determined. The lens survey program I have has guesses as to probable glass types but only guesses. For that reason some achromatized lenses show up as uncorrected and none of the apochromatic lenses in the survey appear to have apochromatic correction although some of them are probably true apochromats (such as the Goerz Apochromatic Artar). So!!!,Does this mean that even thrift stores know that the Schneider lenses are better????:>)Jack
