[rollei_list] Mystery piece, 2.8E

After owning this camera for over a year and running dozens of rolls
through it, I noticed yesterday an 'odd' lever of sorts on the right,
upper corner of the body.  I've posted an image here:

You can barely see a retaining pin located just behind it, and the
horizontal bar above appears to have a hinge in the very back.  I'm
mid-roll, so I don't really want to mess with it too much...  So what
exactly am I looking at?
